🎬 Stranger Things Season 1 Review & Rewatch

by PopcornDiary🍿 2025. 8. 25.

With the final season of Stranger Things set to be released on November 26, 2025,

I decided to start rewatching the show from the very beginning.

It’s hard to believe that Season 1 was first released in 2016—almost 10 years ago!
Back then, I remember struggling through the first three episodes before really getting hooked around episode 4.

But at this time, I was surprised to find myself enjoying it right from episode 1.

I think fellow fans who are also rewatching will totally relate!

Stranger Thing, Season1, 2016

📖 Season 1 Plot

The story begins in 1983, Hawkins, Indiana, when a young boy named Will Byers mysteriously disappears.

At the same time, a strange girl named El(short for Eleven) shows up, and soon the kids are drawn into a world of government conspiracies, supernatural creatures, and thrilling mysteries.

What makes it even more engaging is the way friendship, family bonds, and courage play such central roles in the story.

Will, Mike, Dustin, Lucas

👥 Main Characters

  • Mike, Will, Dustin, and Lucas
The nerdy group of four love playing games in their basement hideout and share witty banter with their science teacher—reminding me of The Big Bang Theory. Even when bullied at school, their resilience adds to the show’s charm. Will, in particular, feels like a character you just want to protect.(Cute :))

Eleven(El)

  • Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown)
With a tattoo of “011” on her wrist, she’s nicknamed Eleven, or simply “El.” She uses her psychic powers at great cost (like nosebleeds) but quickly becomes the group’s most important ally. Millie Bobby Brown’s performance is both youthful and captivating.

  • Steve, Jonathan, and Nancy
Alongside the kids, these older characters add depth to the story, each playing an important role in the fight against the unknown.

🎥 Impressions

Rewatching Stranger Things felt just as thrilling as the first time, but with a fresh perspective.

The show reminded me of films like The Witch (Korean movie, government experiments on psychic children) and The Host (Korean movie, mysterious creatures). It’s packed with witty small talk, quirky humor, and that nostalgic 80s vibe.

Set in 1983, the absence of modern tech like cell phones and the internet creates frustrating moments—but that’s exactly what adds to the show’s charm and tension.

I'll comeback with Season2 or other content. See you!
