Stranger Things Season 2 Review(Netflix)|Plot,Highlights&Ratings 🎬

by PopcornDiary🍿 2025. 9. 1.

With the final season of Stranger Things coming this November, I revisited Season 1 and jumped right into Season 2. Sure, you can skim through countless YouTube recap videos, but rewatching the whole thing reveals details you’d easily miss. Here’s my take on the second season.

Stranger things 2 (2017)

📝 Main Plot

One year after returning from the Upside Down, Will appears to have regained normalcy—but inside, he’s still haunted. Terrifying visions of a giant shadow monster, later known as the Mind Flayer, hint that Hawkins is once again under threat.

Meanwhile, Eleven is secretly living with Chief Hopper, hidden away to protect her from danger. Yet her search for identity and her past leads her on a journey, during which she meets Kali, another gifted individual. This subplot highlights Eleven’s growth from a sidekick into an independent character, with her reunion with her mother adding emotional depth.

The story expands with the invasion of Demodogs, shady experiments at Hawkins Lab, and the kids’ relentless teamwork. Steve unexpectedly steps up as the group’s protector, showcasing a whole new side of his character, while Nancy and Jonathan dig into Barb’s death and uncover the lab’s cover-up. The climax unites kids and adults alike in one desperate stand against the Mind Flayer.

    • Eleven: A journey of identity and independence.
    • Steve: From cocky teen to unexpected fan favorite.
    • Will: Facing trauma and rediscovering courage.

💭 Thoughts

Season 2 doesn’t simply recycle the success of Season 1. Instead, it broadens both the scale of threat and the depth of its characters. The Demodogs bring a new layer of terror, while the Halloween backdrop enriches the cultural atmosphere.

Episode 7, which focuses on Eleven’s past and her encounter with Kali, is divisive—helpful for understanding her character, yet somewhat detached from the main storyline. Still, the season overall feels more balanced and accessible than Season 1, with each character given room to grow.

The finale, featuring the school dance followed by the ominous presence of the Mind Flayer, leaves both warmth and unease—perfectly setting the stage for Season 3.
